Procedures - Breast Reduction
A Breast Reduction is a surgical procedure to decrease the size of the breasts, by removing excess tissue and skin and then tightening the remaining portion of the breast. The nerve and blood supply to the nipples are repositioned and most often kept in tact. Areolas may also be reduced at this time. This is an outpatient surgery that takes place in a hospital setting under General anesthesia and takes about 3 hours. The incision line is circular around the areola, down the front of the breast, and sometimes horizontally across the base of the breast. Scars are easily covered by a bra or bathing suit.
